Fort Ligonier; My French and Indian War tour Part 1

As I mentioned in a previous post, I drove home from Recruits on Sunday, and headed out Monday on a  business trip. I had a couple days' work in the Cleveland, Ohio area, so decided to take a "daycation" beforehand and head to western Pennsylvania - "Braddock country." The plan was to visit Fort Ligonier in the morning, the Fort Pitt Blockhouse and Museum in the afternoon and then head for Cleveland.

The plan went off without a hitch.

From its website: Fort Ligonier is a reconstructed/restored French and Indian War fort, in use 1758-1766, with a separate modern museum facility.

I spent about three hours, wandering the museum, the fort grounds and of course, the gift shop.

Photos follow, commentary has been kept to a minimum. You enter the fort through the museum entrance. Reproduction unit colors adorn the walls. The models and displays are first-rate. The unique George Washington collection at Fort Ligonier features his original saddle pistols, his 11-page "Remarks" on the French and Indian War and a Rembrandt Peale portrait.

 Next up - the Fort!
